OUTDOOR MAGIC with Dakhla Pilares
A beautiful townhouse on the Durban Berea, with the most stunning views over the city, harbour and Indian ocean deserving of the very best Outdoor Living Space. We are working on this with Karen Robert Interiors to create a special haven for this Durban family.
The large upstairs patio proved to be quite a challenge, being almost 13.0 metres long and all of 8.0 metres wide. In addition it was necessary to line up the structures with certain elements on the house, and we did not have much height to play with.
We decide to use two Dakhla Pilares pergolas side by side. The Pilares is a self-standing pergola with a retractable canvass roof. A smaller unit would cover the kitchen- and dining area, whilst a larger structure would cover the lounge area.
To protect the outdoor space from the often windy conditions so prevalent near the ocean, the client decided to opt for Qatif outdoor drop screens, which will also allow for some privacy when utilising the area. The alternative would be fitting pivoting and stacking glass doors
The proverbial 'cherry on top' has top be the dimmable LED light system that fit into the roof of the pergola, which, with the retractable roof and drop blinds can easily be controlled from the client's smartphone or tablet.
